Weaving Wire
Copper Wire Wrapped Labradorite Jewelry
Copper wire wrapped jewelry has a completely different feel from electroformed work. The wire stays visible, deliberate, and architectural, creating movement around the stone instead of becoming a continuous metal surface.
Labradorite is especially fun to wrap because the stone changes so dramatically with the light. One angle can look smoky and subdued, while another suddenly flashes blue, teal, or green. That shifting color becomes part of the design.
Letting the Wire Follow the Stone
I do not like forcing a stone into a rigid idea.
With wire wrapping, the shape of the stone helps determine where the copper goes. Curves can follow an edge, spirals can create a focal point, and small wrapped sections can add structure without covering too much of the stone.
The goal is to frame the labradorite, not compete with it.
That balance is what makes copper wire wrapped jewelry so satisfying to design.
Why Copper and Labradorite Work Together
Copper brings warmth against labradorite’s cooler flashes.
The contrast is especially noticeable when the stone throws strong blue or green color. The copper helps those flashes stand out, while its darker areas add depth around the edges of the stone.
I also like that copper can be shaped into soft, organic curves or tighter geometric lines. That gives each piece its own rhythm.
The Beauty is in the Details
Wire wrapping is one of those techniques where tiny choices matter.
A curve shifted slightly to the left changes the whole composition. A spiral can feel elegant or too busy depending on where it sits. A few tight wraps can add structure without overwhelming the stone.
That detail work is part of what makes each finished pendant individually unique.
Even when I revisit a similar idea, the stone itself changes the outcome.
Labradorite Never Looks the Same Twice
Labradorite is one of my favorite stones because it refuses to stay visually still.
Its flash can disappear completely and then reappear with a small movement. Some stones lean bright blue, while others show green, gold, or even purple.
The stone shown here has a strong blue-green flash framed with swirling copper wire, allowing the stone to remain the focus.
Copper Wire Wrapped Jewelry at Sparkling Delicious
Wire wrapping gives me a way to work directly with the shape and personality of a stone while keeping the metal visibly part of the design.
The finished piece feels structured but still organic, with the copper moving around the labradorite rather than hiding it.
That combination of stone, wire, movement, and variation is what keeps me coming back to it.
