Rutilated Quartz Labradorite Pendant: Cascade Rutile

Cascade Rutile is a Rutilated Quartz Labradorite Pendant from my Keys to the Castle Collection, combining a dramatic rutilated quartz point, faceted blue-flashy hexagonal labradorite, sculptural copper, and three flowing chain drapes.

The quartz is filled with natural golden rutile inclusions that look almost like fine threads or tiny brushstrokes suspended inside the crystal. Above it sits a faceted hexagonal labradorite, flashing shades of blue as the light moves across the surface.

Three copper-finish chains fall beneath the stones in layered arcs, creating the cascading movement that gave this piece its name. The name also gives a quiet little nod to the Cascade Mountains of the Pacific Northwest.

Each piece begins with stones I select and prepare before they spend time in my electroforming tank, where electricity, copper, chemistry, and patience slowly build the finished form. It is part jewelry making, part experiment, and exactly the sort of process that keeps this mad scientist sorceress entertained.

Although I return to the Key to the Castle design again and again, every finished Key develops differently. Natural variation in the rutilated quartz and labradorite combines with the unpredictable electroforming process, giving each pendant its own individual character.

The copper is sealed with ProtectaClear, a clear protective coating that helps preserve the finish and slow natural patina from wear and exposure.

This Rutilated Quartz Labradorite Pendant is complete with a stainless steel chain with copper finish and ready to wear. The combination of golden rutile, blue-flashy labradorite, sculptural copper, and cascading chains gives Cascade Rutile its own distinct personality within the collection.
